28 Feb 2024 Heavy rains continue to hit Oman for next two days

Muscat – The forecast for February 28 to March 1 indicates ongoing scattered rainfall across the northern governorates of Oman.

Starting from Wednesday evening, the rain is expected to intensify, particularly over Buraimi, Dhahirah, and North Batinah on Thursday morning. Throughout the day, the rainfall will extend to Muscat, South Batinah, Dakhiliyah, North Sharqiyah, and South Sharqiyah.

According to Met, the intensity of the rainfall may vary, with possible thunderstorms and hail, accompanied by strong downdraft winds, potentially leading to the flooding of wadis.

Additionally, moderate to active southeasterly winds will prevail over South Sharqiyah, Dhofar, and Dhahirah, while northwesterly winds will lead to dust and dirt rise in desert areas.

Sea waves may rise from 2m to 3.5m along the coasts of Musandam governorate and the Sea of Oman during thundercloud activity.

Conditions are anticipated to gradually improve by Friday, although scattered rainfall is still expected over North and South Sharqiyah. Furthermore, a drop in temperature is expected.
