Muscat – The Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran convened the tenth meeting of the Strategic Consultations Committee in Tehran, Iran on Tuesday, calling for an end to Israel’s ‘war of genocide’ against the Palestinian people in Gaza. 

The Omani delegation was led by H E Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa al Harthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs in  Foreign Ministry, while the Iranian delegation was headed by Ali Bagheri, Deputy Foreign Minister.

The two sides engaged in discussions aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation in several spheres, including economic, consular, cultural and maritime security. 

The agenda emphasised the promotion of investments and regional exchanges to address common obstacles in a manner that aligns with the shared interests of both nations.

The participants exchanged views on a range of regional and international matters of common concern. They reiterated their joint call to the international community to bring an end to Israel’s actions in what they described as a ‘war of genocide’ against the Palestinian people in Gaza. 

The parties urged immediate efforts towards a ceasefire, the lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip, provision of  humanitarian needs, and accountability for Israel’s alleged violations of international law and human rights.

In conclusion, the meeting underscored the commitment of both Oman and Iran to collaborative efforts that contribute to regional stability, economic development and the resolution of pressing international challenges.
