Muscat – The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) seized more than 1,700 prohibited therapeutic products from a commercial establishment in the wilayat of Salalah in Dhofar governorate.

A statement issued by CPA said, ‘The Department of Consumer Protection in Dhofar seized and confiscated 1,179 therapeutic products, including creams, oils, and sprays, that are only dispensed with a medical prescription in the wilayat of Salalah.’

According to CPA, the owner of the establishment said that he was not aware these commodities were prohibited and endangered the safety and health of consumers. ‘The practice is considered a violation of laws and regulations and consumer rights. The items were seized, and legal measures are under way.’

CPA stresses that it will spare no effort in following up and monitoring the markets, controlling everything that would harm the health and safety of consumers and take legal measures against violators. CPA also encourages individuals to report any abuses they might notice through the various communication channels for CPA.
