Ahmed Daham dominates victory in OIDC Round 2

Muscat – The second round of the Oman International Drift Championship (OIDC) concluded at the Muscat Drift Arena. The weekend was jam-packed with action, leaving fans cheering for more. 32 drivers from 16 different countries, including Oman, UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Lithuania, Latvia, El Salvador, Finland, Pakistan, Sweden, Netherlands, Ireland, China, and Russia, participated in the competition. The drivers pushed their limits and exhibited spectacular display precision and boldness on the challenging track.

Thrilling Second Round Kicks Off the Sixth Edition:

Held under the honourable patronage of Sheikh Badr bin Mohammed Al-Nadabi, CEO of Mwasalat, and graced by the presence of Brigadier Mohammed bin Nasser Al Kindi, Director General of Operations at the Royal Oman Police and Member of the Oman Automobile Association’s Board of Directors, the second round of the sixth edition of the OIDC took place on February 15th and 16th at the Muscat Arena. The competition was divided into three categories: Local, Middle East, and International, with each category showcasing the best talent from its region.

A Diverse and Competitive Field:

In the Local category, six talented Omani drivers competed for the top spot, while the Middle East category featured ten drivers from different parts of the region. The International category, on the other hand, attracted sixteen drivers from around the world, including some of the biggest names in drifting such as James Deane and Ahmed Daham.

Close Battles and Exciting Finals:

The competition was fierce with drivers pushing themselves to the limit. The finals saw some of the closest battles of the season, with the top drivers showcasing their incredible skill and determination.

Champions Crowned:

International Category: In a surprising turn of events, Jordan’s Ahmed Daham snatched victory in the international category, narrowly beating Irish legend James Deane and Latvian drifter Nikolass Bertans into second and third place, respectively.
Middle East Category: Jordan’s Ahmed Daham took the top spot in the Middle East category, followed by Kuwait’s Ali Makhseed and Oman’s Ahmed Al Amri in second and third place.
Local Drift category: Local hero Ahmed Al Amri emerged victorious in the Local category, showcasing his skills and delighting the home crowd. Ali Al Shaihani and Haitham Al Hadidi completed the podium in second and third place.

A Global Audience Captivated:

Adding to the event’s reach, the Oman Automobile Association’s live stream on YouTube captivated a global audience, garnering an impressive 140,000 views. This international viewership underscores the OIDC’s growing popularity and its position as one of the most-watched drift competitions in the world.

World-Wide Judges:

The judging panel for the championship consists of experienced and respected individuals who have officiated at numerous international drifting events. The panel is headed by Irish judge Kieran Haynes, along with Yemeni judge Wadah Aqaba, Dutch judge Vernon Zuaneveld, and Omani judge Saud Al Rawahi.

Audience Attendance:

The second round of the OIDC attracted a large and enthusiastic crowd of Omanis and residents to the arena’s stands with above 10,000 spectators.
