Muscat – The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, North Sharqiyah branch, organised the first Oman Desert Tourism Forum on Wednesday.
The event was sponsored by Sheikh Sabbaa Hamdan al Saadi, Secretary General of the National Celebrations.
Sheikh Mahmoud bin Yahya al Dhahli, Governor of North Sharqiyah, said that the forum was held to boost tourism in the governorate through a strategic partnership between government agencies and the private sector.
“It highlighted the role of tourism in supporting local communities and their institutions, in addition to analysing the challenges and obstacles of investments in desert areas and revisiting the target of Oman Vision 2040.”
The forum also witnessed the launch of an initiative to establish the Tourism Media and Information Centre in North Sharqiyah. An agreement was also signed for the development of the tourism sector and its related activities in the governorate, officials informed.
