Muscat – As many as 500 participants, among them 60 speakers and representatives of 30 local and international companies, have gathered in Muscat for the Oman Water Week celebration, which kicked off on Monday at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The Week, which opened under the auspices of H E Dr Saud Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, is set to address Oman’s water challenges, while deliberating on ways to improve local competencies and transfer knowledge and expertise.

The event will explore the latest technologies and innovations with the prime objective of providing sustainable solutions to water challenges, raising environmental awareness and devising a roadmap for sustainable development in Oman.

The topics chosen for discussion include water policies and strategies, circular economy, operational efficiency, sustainable technologies in the water sector, digital transition and the applications of artificial intelligence.

An exhibition – to be held on the sidelines of the water week – will showcase the latest innovations and technologies and provide participants an opportunity to exchange knowledge and help shape the future of water use.
