Muscat – The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP), in collaboration with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Consumer Protection Authority, held a press conference on Tuesday to launch ‘National Campaign for Discounts and Promotional Offers’.
The campaign will start on January 11 and continue till February 11 to commemorate His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s fourth anniversary of accession to the throne.
The conference was attended by Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), and several senior MoCIIP and Consumer Protection Authority officials.
Details of the national campaign were presented at the conference to enhance partnership between the public and private sectors during the campaign period.
The campaign aims to offer products at affordable prices for all segments of society, while supporting commercial centres increase sales.
The initiative seeks to facilitate collaboration between the public and private sectors to stimulate economic growth and enhance the overall trading environment in the sultanate.
“The national campaign consolidates the role of the private sector as a key partner in the ongoing renaissance witnessed in the sultanate under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham. It highlights the leading role of the private sector in a competitive economy linked to the global economy, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040,” said Rawas.
He stated that the campaign will stimulate shopping activities significantly, reflecting positively on the competitiveness of the business environment in Oman.
The wide coverage of the campaign across all governorates will help boost the economy in all regions through sustainable growth of private sector businesses.
Mubarak bin Mohammed al Dohani, Director General of Commerce at MoCIIP, informed that the ministry encourages all institutions and entities to participate in this national celebration. “The campaign aims to increase footfall in commercial establishments, providing memorable experiences to consumers.”
Hassan bin Jamah bin Ismail al Is’haq, Chairman of Trade and Retail Committee at OCCI, stated that the campaign will run under the slogan ‘Oman, a Renewed Renaissance’.
“The emphasis is on offering competitive prices for essential and consumer goods, aiming to provide consumers a variety of purchasing options and enhance market competitiveness.”
According to Is’haq, the campaign is an opportunity for the retail sector to increase sales and attract a larger number of consumers through promotional offers and valuable prizes.
