Muscat – The Ministry of Energy and Minerals signed a concession agreement for oil and gas exploration in concession areas No 38 and 74 with CC Energy Development on Sunday.
The company will conduct geological and geophysical studies and seismic surveys necessary for oil and gas prospecting in the designated zone.
Located in southwestern Dhofar, Concession Area No 38 is spread over approximately 17,425sqkm, while Concession Area No 74, in the southeastern part of the governorate, covers an area of 3,064sqkm.
The agreement was signed by H E Salim Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, and Marwan Shafiq Salloum, Director of CC Energy Development.
H E Aufi said that the agreement reflects the ministry’s commitment to expand exploration and prospecting for oil and gas resources in the sultanate. The agreement also underscores the confidence of local and international investors in Oman.
