Muscat – Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) has cancelled all scheduled concerts for the 2023-24 season in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
In a statement issued on Monday, ROHM said, ‘In light of the ongoing events impacting the region, the Royal Opera House Muscat announces cancellation of all scheduled concerts for its 2023-24 artistic season in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The season will resume with classical programmes only.
‘A notable portion of the proceeds generated from these programmes will be dedicated to support the Palestinian people in coordination with Oman Charitable Organisation.’
Meanwhile, Oman Charitable Organisation has announced that it collected donations amounting to more than RO582,000 as of Monday, December 24.
The organisation noted that those interested can donate via ONEIC payment machines and bank transfers – Bank Muscat 0423010869610013 and Oman Arab Bank 3101006200500.
Donations can also be made through text message. Omantel subscribers can send ‘donate’ to 90022, Ooredoo subscribers ‘Palestine’ to 90909, and Renna subscribers can use the code *181*092#
