Muscat – Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, and his wife arrived in Muscat late Monday night on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
At the forefront of receiving President Steinmeier and his accompanying delegation at the Royal Airport was H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister.
H E Eng Saeed bin Hamoud al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Head of the Mission of Honour; H E Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation; and H E Maitha bint Saif al Mahrouqi, Oman’s Ambassador to Germany; H E Dirk Loelke, Ambassador of Germany to Oman; and members of the German Embassy in Muscat were also present at the airport to receive him.
The President is accompanied by an official delegation that includes Dr Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the German Federal Foreign Ministry; Wolfgang Silbermann, Foreign Policy Advisor to the German Federal President and a number of German officials.
This visit will focus on matters of common interest between the two countries in a way that contributes to achieving their interests and aspirations, and consult on current regional issues.
