Muscat – The Ministry of Labour, in collaboration with the Royal Oman Police, cracked the whip on street vendors in Muscat on Sunday to address the growing concern about illegal sales along the roads and streets of Quyriat and Amerat.

‘As part of our efforts to reduce the practice of random sales on the streets of Quyriat and Amerat, the Ministry of Labour, in cooperation with other agencies, carried out an inspection campaign in the wilayat,’ an MoL statement said.

During the operation, the authorities issued multiple health violation notices to street vendors and arrested 25 expat workers and seized a huge quantity of food that was being sold illegally in public spaces.

The raid was prompted by frequent complaints about vendors selling fish and vegetables in unhygienic conditions.
