Muscat – The Ministry of Health, through the National Committee for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, launched the National Campaign to Combat Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances on Monday.
The launch ceremony, held under the auspices of Sheikh Al Munthir Ahmed al Marhoon, Wali of Muttrah, took place at Muttrah Souq.
Under the theme ‘Together we join hands’, the campaign focuses on raising community awareness on drug abuse and addiction. It aims to adopt a collaborative approach involving individuals and diverse sectors to effectively tackle the drug menace.
The campaign is part of a biennial community competition associated with the National Campaign to Combat Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances organised by the Ministry of Health. It aims to engage the community actively in awareness and prevention efforts.
The campaign launch featured a comprehensive visual presentation outlining the competition’s objectives. The presentation detailed various activities, events and community initiatives of the campaign. These efforts are directed towards elevating community awareness and mitigating the risks associated with drugs and psychotropic substances.
