Muscat – Oman Environmental Services Holding Company (be’ah) has won the highly prestigious ISWA 2023 Communication Award for its impactful campaign ‘Be Mindful – Ramadan Campaign’.

Recognising that any lasting change stems from small actions and a shared vision of a sustainable future, the campaign targeted two critical issues: Food waste and plastic pollution.

The recognition came at the closing ceremony of the 2023 International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) World Congress on Wednesday. It was the first time that the congress was hosted in Oman and the Middle East.

Under the 2023 congress’ theme ‘Global Action Towards a Net Zero Future’, ISWA recognises excellent efforts and creative ideas that increase public awareness and promote sustainable waste management each year.

Each award is chosen by a panel made up of volunteers and leaders within the ISWA community.

“We are profoundly grateful to have been awarded the ISWA 2023 Communication Award. This recognition underscores be’ah’s steadfast dedication to advancing environmental awareness and responsible waste management,” stated Essam Yahya al Sharji, be’ah’s general manager – Corporate Affairs.

“The campaign’s success stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to forging a cleaner, more sustainable future built by mindful communities, in Oman and beyond,” he further said.

“We extend our warmest congratulations to the fellow recipients of ISWA awards and express our heartfelt appreciation to all our partners, team members, and individuals whose invaluable contributions were instrumental in transforming this campaign from a vision to a reality. It is together that we are driving forward, hand in hand, towards a world that is more considerate and environmentally conscious,” Sharji asserted.

Employing a multifaceted strategy, the campaign leveraged social media, offline media, and influencer collaborations to maximise its impact.
