Muscat – For the first time in its history of wildlife monitoring, the Environment Authority (EA) has captured images of Arabian tree owl in Musandam governorate.
The owl was spotted by camera traps in the wilayat of Diba.
According to EA, camera traps and the National Biodiversity Survey project play a pivotal role in both understanding and preserving Oman’s diverse wildlife. ‘These devices not only capture rare animal sightings but also collect vital data that serve as the basis for conservation efforts and informed policy decisions.’
Cameras, equipped with intelligent sensors, have been strategically placed in Musandam’s rugged terrains and wadis to monitor the movements of nocturnal animal.
