Samarkand, Uzbekistan – Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group) announced on Thursday that it became an affiliate member of World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) during its 25th General Assembly held in Samarkand.
Vilcu Lon, Director of Affiliate Members Department at UNWTO, presented the membership certificate to Dr Hashil al Mahrouqi, CEO of Omran.
Following the new affiliation, Omran aims to actively support efforts to promote sustainable and responsible tourism through its various development projects. It also aims to exchange expertise and knowledge in line with the group’s goals and objectives, as well as boost networking and business opportunities. Additionally, the affiliation gives the group the opportunity to participate in major events and international initiatives that will provide value and visibility.
The affiliate membership grants the group access to a host of other benefits such as essential information and statistics through UNWTO resources digital platforms. Also, it provides an unparalleled space for members to engage in dialogue, exchange knowledge, support new measures and create synergies that promote the development of the tourism sector, and contribute to the promotion of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The UNWTO Affiliate Members Department fosters public-private cooperation in tourism and synergy among affiliate members and member states. It brings together around 500 private companies, associations, educational institutions and destination management organizations.
Omran will work to promote its projects and initiatives, while having a presence at various events and conferences organised by UNWTO. The group looks forward to leveraging this membership while focusing on promoting Oman as a sustainable and attractive tourist destination for visitors from around the world through its diversified projects.
