Muscat – The total volume of IP-based fixed-line telephone subscriptions grew by 7.5%, while the number of mobile broadband Internet subscribers increased by 6.5% by the end of August 2023, compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

Statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that IP-based fixed-line telephone subscriptions totaled 279,137 by the end of August 2023, compared to 229,833 analogue fixed-line subscriptions, which had dropped by 9%.

NCSI statistics show that the number of mobile phone subscriptions increased by 8% by the end of August 2023, reaching 7,091,054. The largest number of mobile phone subscriptions was prepaid, with a total of 5,343,210 lines, posting a rise of 5.2% until the end of August 2023.

Meanwhile, the number of active mobile broadband Internet subscriptions stood at 6,072,503.
