Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Within the framework of the visit of H H Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, to Saudi Arabia, an official session of talks was held in Riyadh on Sunday with Prince Badr bin Abdullah al Saud, Saudi Minister of Culture.
They discussed an array of topics pertaining to culture and joint cooperation.
On the sidelines of the visit, H H Sayyid Theyazin and Prince Badr signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Saudi Ministry of Culture. The MoU aims to promote cooperation and exchange between the two countries in various cultural areas.
The MoU covers developing Omani-Saudi cultural cooperation in areas of heritage, the fields of architecture, design, visual arts, performing arts, book publishing activities, translation, costumes, Islamic decorations, traditional cuisine and films.
The MoU includes exchange of expertise in regulations and policies governing the cultural sector, as well as implementing Unesco conventions joined by the two countries. Further, the MoU deals with participation in cultural festivals and activities organised in the two countries, facilitating communication among cultural agencies and intellectuals, enhancing joint strategic projects in diverse cultural fields and projects related to preservation of all forms of heritage.
