Muscat – Sayyid Badr Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received Hans Grundberg, UN Special Envoy to Yemen, on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two reviewed the situation in Yemen and the efforts exerted to reach a peaceful solution that serves the Yemeni people and establishes security and stability.

Referring to the meeting, H E Sayyid Badr tweeted, “Reaffirming that it is crucial to support all efforts towards achieving a comprehensive political settlement, and encouraging humanitarian initiatives.”

The Special Envoy was in Qatar on Monday where he met Lolwah al Khater, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and other Qatari officials to discuss the importance of further consolidating regional and international support to UN mediation efforts in Yemen.

They discussed the progress to support the parties to agree on measures to improve living conditions in Yemen, commit and implement a nationwide ceasefire, and resume an inclusive political process under UN auspices.

Grundberg welcomed the recent visit by an Ansar Allah-led delegation to Riyadh. He expressed gratitude for the efforts of Saudi Arabia and Oman aimed at reaching solutions to several contentious issues to facilitate the resumption of an intra-Yemeni political process under the auspices of the United Nations.

The Special Envoy also stressed the importance of continued concerted regional and international engagement to accompany Yemen on its path towards sustainable peace that meets the aspirations of Yemenis in all their diversity.
