Muscat – Muscat Municipality has alerted citizens and residents to the severe consequences of littering in the city’s public spaces. Recent incidents of barbecue waste littering at two city sites prompted the warning.
The municipality issued a statement highlighting the broader implications beyond mere littering. ‘Such behaviour adversely affects public health, pollutes the environment and ruins the outdoor experience for others. The law strictly forbids littering, imposing a fine up to RO100 for violations.’
To avoid legal repercussions, the municipality urged all citizens and residents to use designated sites for waste disposal.
‘Your cooperation is paramount in ensuring the continued cleanliness of public spaces,’ it stated.
