Sur nominated Arab Tourism Capital for 2024 by Oman

Muscat – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has nominated Sur to be named Arab Tourism Capital for 2024.

H E Salim Mohammed al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, met Dr Bandar bin Fahd al Fahid, President of Arab Tourism Organization, on Tuesday in this regard.

Also present were H E Azzan bin Qassim al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Tourism in MHT, and officials from both parties.

The focal point of their discussion was the ongoing process of registering Sur for the title based on a nomination submitted to the Council of Arab Tourism Ministers and the Arab Tourism Organization.

The dialogue revolved around strengthening the Arab world’s standing in global tourism and strategies to optimise its potential. Additionally, they explored the Arab Tourism Organization’s training and investment programmes available to member nations.

H E Mahrouqi provided insights into the sultanate’s broad tourism development plans, ensuring they align with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The Council of Arab Tourism Ministers named Doha as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2023.
