Muscat – Oman witnessed a 104.2% surge in the value of its jewellery exports in 2022, reaching RO46.4mn when compared to RO22.7mn recorded at the end of 2021.
Interestingly, this growth in value occurred even though the exported weight dropped from 278 tonnes in 2021 to 131 tonnes in 2022.
The National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) further revealed that the re-export value of these jewellery pieces stood at RO33.3mn in 2022, an increase from RO8.2mn the previous year.
The exported jewellery assortment comprised a mix of both natural and artificial pearls, precious and semi-precious stones and precious metals. Traditional jewellery and crafted artifacts from these materials were also part of this diverse export range.
