New York, USA – The Sultanate of Oman chaired a coordination meeting of GCC foreign ministers on Sunday in preparation of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Chaired by H E Sayyid Badr al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, the meeting looked into a programme of joint engagements that the GCC states will hold with friendly countries, as well as regional gatherings as scheduled.
The GCC ministers exchanged views on ways to maximise common benefits from various aspects of cooperation.
The meeting also touched on means of consolidating security and stability, and supporting efforts to forge peaceful solutions for major regional issues and global challenges.
Sayyid Badr heads delegation to UN
A delegation from the Sultanate of Oman, headed by H E Sayyid Badr, participated in the 78th UN General Assembly in New York on Monday. The session will run until September 26.
World leaders have gathered to participate in the annual high-level general discussion under the theme ‘Rebuilding Confidence and Reviving Global Solidarity’, focused on accelerating action on the UN’s 2030 agenda and its sustainable development goals to achieve peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all.
Within the framework of multilateral United Nations meetings, the Foreign Minister will hold a series of interactions and conferences that will address the sultanate’s bilateral relations with numerous countries discussing the most significant regional and international events and developments and exchange views on ways to deal with these.
Meeting with WEF President
H E Sayyid Badr met Borge Brende, President of World Economic Forum, in New York on Sunday, as part of the sultanate’s participation in the 78th UN General Assembly.
Their discussion covered cooperation between Oman and WEF through active participation in the forum’s work to support international dialogue and encourage cooperation opportunities, including those producing scientific and economic benefits.
“Enjoyed my conversation with WEF President Brende. We discussed regional and international issues, economic opportunities and explored collaboration in the global arena,” Sayyid Badr posted on X.
