Muscat – In a move to advance healthcare training and employment, the Ministry of Health (MoH) signed a cooperation programme with the Ministry of Labour (MoL) on Thursday. The collaboration aims to train and subsequently employ over 600 nursing and allied medical professionals.

Dignitaries present at the signing included H E Dr Fatma Mohammed al Ajmi, MoH Undersecretary for Administrative, Financial and Planning Affairs, and H E Sayyid Salim Musallam al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Human Resources Development in MoL.

The objective of this programme is to elevate the skills of Omani individuals holding bachelor’s degrees and diplomas. It is designed to prepare them for roles in nursing and allied medical fields in government health institutions. A unique feature of the programme is the combination of training directly linked to employment opportunities.

Highlighting the importance of the programme, H E Dr Fatma emphasised the role of MoH in closely overseeing the training regimen, ensuring its timely execution. Moreover, the ministry will evaluate trainees regularly and coordinate feedback with MoL.

On the occasion, H E Busaidi spoke about the government’s dedication to both improving the health sector and creating avenues for the youth, and affirmed MoL’s commitment to financially back training grants for nursing and allied healthcare professionals.
