Muscat – The Directorate General of Meteorology has warned of a rise in temperature accompanied by an increase in humidity in Muscat and the coastal areas of Batinah which may cause heatstroke.
Although the temperature in Seeb in Muscat governorate is 39°C on Sunday, the humidity is 85%.
The Met stated that a noticeable rise in the apparent temperature will be witnessed as a result of high humidity on Sunday and Monday along the coasts of Batinah and Muscat.
According to the Met Department’s weather bulletin for Monday, but isolated rains may be witnessed in the Al Hajar Mountains.
Hamra ad Duru and Dima Wa al Taien recorded the highest temperature of 46.9°C in Oman in the last 24 hours. Maqshin, Fahud and Sunaynah all witnessed temperatures between 46.6°C to 46.4°C, while Barka, Amerat and Wadi al Maawil recorded temperatures in the range of 46.3°C to 46.2°C.
