774 expatriates deported from Oman for Labour Law violations in June

Muscat – The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has announced that a total of 774 expatriate workers were deported in June 2023 for violating the provisions of the Labour Law.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the Joint Labour Inspection Team, in collaboration with Royal Oman Police, made 461 inspection visits during the month, resulting in the arrest and deportation of 774 workers who had violated the provisions of the Labour Law.

Among the deported individuals, 35 were working in professions reserved for Omani nationals, 413 were employed by other employers, and 13 were working in occupations for which they were not authorised.

Out of the total number of expatriates deported, 481 had voluntarily quit their jobs, while 140 were found to be working for different employers. The remaining 153 individuals were in violation of the Labour Law and its associated decisions and regulations.
