Muscat – The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT), in collaboration with the Office of the Governor of South Sharqiyah, will organise Ajwaa al Ashkharah Festival from July 5 to 24.
To be opened under the patronage of H E Salim bin Mohammad al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, in the presence of Dr Yahya Badr Malik al Ma’awali, Governor of South Sharqiyah, the festival will take place at Ashkharah Park.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Humaid al Ghabshi, Wali of Jalan Bani Bu Ali and Chairman of the Organising Committee, informed that the festival will include an array of entertainment, promotional and cultural events aimed to achieve various economic and social goals.
“The primary goal of the festival is to promote tourist destinations and support domestic tourism, empowering the governorate to take a leading role in this initiative. It will also serve as a unique opportunity to showcase the archaeological and cultural sites of the governorate to visitors,” Ghabshi said.
Discussing the preparations, Ma’awali said, “All tourist sites in the wilayats of Al Kamil Wa al Wafi, Ras al Hadd and Sur will have promotional activities for the festival.”
The event will feature entertainment activities, including a heritage corner and an exhibition in which entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises will participate. Additionally, fun games, beach games and cultural activities will be held at the park theatre.
Kite flying activities will be held in the main events of the festival, adding to the festive ambiance. “Several Arab community clubs in Oman will take part in the event, contributing to its vibrancy and diversity,” Ma’awali added.
