Muscat – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) has launched the Arts Award for 2023 in three categories – advertising films, animation and soundtrack – for Omanis and residents aged 18 years and older.
The Arts Award aims to discover artistic talents, support the talents of university and college students, encourage young talents in the field of music, and enhance cooperation between musicians, producers and directors in the music industry to facilitate innovative new works of art.
Announcing the award, Ibrahim Saif Bani Oraba, Assistant Director General of MCSY’s Arts Directorate, said, “It is dedicated to creative talents in various artistic fields, including folk, performing, theatrical, cinematic, visual and digital art and photography.”
The award also aims to achieve the objectives of developing cultural creativity, use of advanced production technologies, and mentoring talented and creative people in cultural fields.
According to Oraba, participants of the Animation Production Award will be given the opportunity to work on projects using computer generated two-or three-dimensional animation techniques, clay animation, paper cutouts or traditional animation and stop motion.
“The Advertising Films Award aims to produce a propaganda film about nature in the sultanate. The film should be of three- to five-minute duration,” Oraba informed.
“It should highlight a tourist place in any governorate chosen by the contestant using assistive technologies.”
For the Soundtrack Award, the ministry will send a link of a film to participants registered for the award. Participants will be required to create a soundtrack for the given film material within September 5 to 7, 2023.
