Muscat – The sultanate has condemned and denounced the continuous aggression of Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian cities and towns.

Israel’s army and Gaza fighters exchanged heavy cross-border fire on Wednesday, with 20 Palestinians killed over two days amid the worst escalation of violence to hit the coastal territory in months.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said, ‘Oman condemns the use of force in the Gaza Strip and storming of the city of Nablus in the West Bank. This unjustified escalation is a clear violation of international law and Security Council resolutions.’

The ministry added that Oman appeals to the international community to take deterrent measures against Israel to stop its continued aggression against the Palestinian people, stressing on the firm Omani position towards the Palestinian cause.

It called for Israel’s withdrawal from the occupied Palestinian territories to the 1967 borders and enabling the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
