Muscat – Food Safety and Quality Centre (FSQC) has denied that it issued notice for recall of special chicken flavour noodle products. A statement issued by FSQC said, ‘The centre would like to clarify on the rumours circulated on social media about the recall and withdrawal of instant curry-flavoured vermicelli products called ‘Lai White Curry Noodles’ by some countries. The country of origin is Malaysia, and the name of the product is ‘Indomie: Special Chicken Flavour noodles’. The percentage of ethylene oxide is above the permissible limits.’
The centre has clarified that the specified product was not imported into Oman and that similar products are subject to conformity procedures, as per the approved standard specifications, during inspection and control at the border ports.
FSQC has instructed its specialists to check similar products in the laboratory to ensure that they comply with the approved specifications before they enter the sultanate.
