OCEC hosts largest iftar with 1,000 participating

Muscat – The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) turned to be the venue for the largest iftar reception last week when it hosted a gathering of nearly 1,000 people from various walks of life.
Organised by Nada Happiness, a popular name in wholesale trading, several Ministerial representatives, a number of executives, stakeholders, and their employees took part in the iftar that went through suhour.
Several halls of the iconic exhibition centre were joined together to host such an enormous number of people.
Vehicles were controlled by volunteers and visitors were given directions in order to make the event a flawless and complaint-free one
Abdul Salam, chairman; Abdul Asif, MD, and CEOs Abdul Saleem and Ameer Ahmed said that it was the first time for such a whopping number of people to break fast together in the recent past.
“We have conducted iftar gatherings in the past too. But this is the first time that an iftar of this stature is conducted and many of the Omani as well as expatriate workforce being honoured,” they said.
As may as 72 employees who have been working for over five years and for more than a decade were honoured with mementos and tokens of appreciation.
An array of sumptuous iftar delicacies was arranged for the believers to break their fast and the iftar gathering, as any community iftar does, provided with networking opportunities for the guests.
