17 Apr 2023 By

Muscat – The latest weather charts and analyses of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre indicate a low pressure, which will result in rain over large parts of the sultanate from Tuesday.

In a weather alert, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said that there are chances of thunderstorms and rain of varying intensity over the Al Hajar mountains from Tuesday to Friday, specifically the mountainous areas in the governorates of Dakhliyah, Al Wusta, North Sharqiyah and South Sharqiyah.

During the peak of the low pressure, rainfall will range between 20mm to 45mm on Wednesday and Thursday, causing wadis to overflow. Showers accompanied by hail and active downdraft winds of 28-64kmph are expected, CAA stated.

CAA advised all to be cautious during rains and in flowing wadis, and to check the state of the sea before sailing.
