Muscat – As many as 641 expatriate workers have been deported for violating the provisions of the Labour Law, the Ministry of Labour (MoL) said.
A statement issued by MoL said, ‘The office of the Joint Labour Inspection Team, in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police, organised an inspection campaign in March and deported 641 expatriate workers for violating the provisions of the Labour Law.’
Upon investigation, it was found that 108 of these individuals were found to be working with a different employer, 414 had left their employers and 119 were booked for violations.
The ministry also reported that a total of 310 expatriates were arrested in the Muscat governorate in the month of March for various violations.
The ministry calls on all employers to adhere to the provisions of the Labour Law.
