Muscat – The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) has begun harvesting wheat from approximately 38 acres of farmland in North Batinah.
Ahmed bin Ali al Muqbali, Director of Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in North Batinah, said, “Farmers have started harvesting wheat of the 2022-23 season in several wilayats. We expect to harvest 50 tonnes of wheat this season.”
He added that the department distributed 500kg of wheat kernels of various varieties among farmers to cultivate this year. “The ministry is making concerted efforts to support farmers and diversify agricultural crops by providing guidance in crop cultivation, new harvesting techniques and providing improved seeds and fertilisers. The ministry also encourages farmers to grow a variety of agricultural crops.”
