Fagor FCC claim A Division T20 title

21 Mar 2023

Muscat – Fagor FCC beat Orient Travels by 21 runs in the final of the A Division T20 tournament powered by Khimji Ramdas.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss Fagor FCC made 147/9 in 20 overs. Chirag Mandaviya (48 of 47; 1×4,3×6) and Sultan Ahmed (43 of 30; 6×4) were their main run-getters.

Tanveer Rana (3/38), Tauseef Ahmed  (2/13) and Mudassar Qayyum (2/28) shone with the ball for Orient.

But their response with the bat was not that impressive as they kept losing wickets. Syed Amir Ali’s (45 of 27; 5×4,2×6) blitz got Orient Travels close to the target but couldn’t take them over the line. Fagor FCC’s Aneermon claimed 3/16 while Charles Jacob picked 3/29 to ensure their title.

Fagor FCC had claimed the A Division 50-over title as well.

Speaking on Fagor FCC’s successful run this year, Parameswaran Shankar, their captain, said: “Our Team has been brilliant in both formats, in all the departments of the game. We played as a unit and showed aggressive intent throughout the tournament. Our players were up to the challenges thrown to them at any circumstances resulting in our success to beat strong sides.

“Our team composition relies on experienced players who understand the game and its crucial situations and have contributed to the winning cause. To be winners in both formats is certainly an achievement and a unique record we all will cherish for a very long time. On behalf of Fagor FCC and the management, I thank all the players and our cordial sponsors for our feat.”

The post-match prize distribution ceremony was graced by Arvind Venkatramani, Chief Finance Officer – Khimji Ramdas Infrastructure, and Duleep Mendis, Chief Development Officer – Oman Cricket.

Mendis presented Chirag Mandaviya of Fagor FCC the Man of the Match award and Arvind Venkatramani presented Fagor FCC the trophies.
