Muscat – The total number of mobile phone subscriptions in Oman increased by 11 per cent at the end of January 2023 to 6,804,762, compared to the same period in 2022, according to the latest data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Post-paid mobile phone subscriptions rose by 28.9 per cent to 1,646,544, while pre-paid mobile phone subscriptions increased 6.3 per cent to 5,158,218 in January, compared to the same period in 2022.
Fixed-line subscriptions decreased by 1.3 per cent to 562,987 lines, while the total number of active mobile broadband internet subscriptions rose by 10 per cent to 5,722,841 in January 2023, compared to January 2022.
Statistics showed that the total international capacity of the internet amounted to 2,492,935 megabytes in January 2023, recording an increase of 63.9 per cent compared to January 2022, while the number of leased local circuits reached about 5,138, and the number of beneficiaries of telex lines stabilised at 116 lines.
