Muscat – As part of its efforts to preserve the fish resources, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) has announced that it has suspended issuing licences for coastal fishing vessels using bottom trawling, on Monday.

A statement issued by MAFWR said, ‘The ministry stops issuing licences for coastal fishing vessels using bottom trawling method from today until further notice.’

The ministry confirmed that the decision aims to preserve and develop fish wealth and reduce violations of the Marine Fishing Law and Protection of Living Aquatic Resources.
