Muscat – Ten members of Oman EVO Club, in cooperation with Royal Oman Police, organised a drive recently from Muscat to Jabal al Sifah.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, Haitham al Mahmoudi, head of Oman EVO Club, said, “The ten motorists from different governorates drove 100km, starting from Burj al Sahwa to Jabal al Sifah.”
According to Mahmoudi, the drive aimed to raise awareness on tourist sites, the significance of sports – especially motorsports – and traffic safety.
“Our club consists of 17 members. On this drive, we visited a few sites, including Qurm, Wadi Kabir, Qantab and Jabal al Sifah Resort. The team took pictures of the beautiful scenery along the way and promoted these on social media.”
The club has an annual plan to organise 12 events to stimulate domestic tourism, promote motorsports and spread awareness on traffic safety among community members.
In March, the team will organise a drive to Dakhliyah and visit Jabal Akhdar, Nizwa Souq, Samail Fort and Jabal Hat.
“I hope that the youth follow traffic rules and safety measures. They should join official clubs to help them practise motorsports in the correct way,” Mahmoudi said.
