Muscat – Now in its second week, more and more people are flocking to Muscat Nights to witness the wide variety of activities being held at the four venues, including Qurum Park.
While visitors are excited about the games, cinema screenings and food courts, the lakeside activities at Qurum Park have been a big hit.
An array of colourful presentations starts at the lake from 8pm, including fountains and drone shows.
Drones light up the night sky with gigantic shapes of turtles, camels, ships and the Muscat Nights logo. The drones are choreographed to form shapes for a few scintillating moments before quickly changing colours and formation.
The fountain shows are another spectacle in which water jets through the air in various patterns with graceful movements, sometimes swaying and still in the next moment.
The fountains are choreographed to opera music.
Salim Khalfan, an Amerat resident who works as business head of a company, said, “I have seen the Dubai Mall fountain show. Though the one at Muscat Nights is much smaller, I loved the various shades it formed. The Dubai Mall fountain show is too loud at times.”
One of the best attractions of Muscat Nights takes place in the lake, where colourful fairies and princesses sail in small boats. The lakeside lights are dimmed as five artists dressed like fairies sail in boats of various shapes in scenes out of the Disney fantasy Blue Fairy.
Speaking about the show, Abdullah al Amri, who visited with his daughter on Saturday evening, said, “The lakeside drone shows and fairies are my daughter’s favourite. It’s the first time she has seen something like this and is very excited.
