Muscat – The ongoing construction of a lavish waterfront in the wilayat of Shinas is going on in full swing with almost half the project nearing completion.

Ahmed bin Ali al Shehhi, Director of the Municipal Affairs Department in the wilayat of Shinas, said, “Forty per cent of the project has been completed and the work for the remaining part is going on in full swing.”

North Batinah Municipality is implementing the Shinas waterfront project, which is being built over an area of 35,250sqm at a cost of RO389,000. “The focus is to support domestic tourism and increase the national income,” Shehhi informed.

The project includes the construction of various facilities such as a bikeway and a walkway, in addition to green spaces and areas designated for children’s games and sport equipment.

Talking about the municipality’s efforts, Shehhi said the civic authority has implemented a number of projects such as the development of the Shinas Public Park and the Qurum Natural Park, besides other vital facilities.
