Muscat – In implementation of the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, a symposium and exhibition on the history of Omani camels began in Riyadh on Tuesday.

The symposium, held at the premises of Culture Palace in the diplomatic quarter in Riyadh, aims to introduce the participants and visitors to Omani camels, their history, origins and their role in economic, social and cultural life.

The event also seeks to highlight the activities of the Royal Camel Corps and its role in preserving thoroughbred Omani camel breeds. It supports the ongoing cooperation between Oman and Saudi Arabia with regard to camels. It covers various areas of relevance to camels, including investment opportunities in camel-based economies, as well as scholarly and practical aspects of camels.

A photography and modern arts exhibition is also being organised as part of the event by Oman Society for Fine Arts.

The event was held under the auspices of Sheikh Fahd Falah Hathlin, Founder and President of the International Camel Organization. It was also attended by H H Sayyid Faisal Turki al Said, Ambassador of Oman to Saudi Arabia, and Humaid Ali Al Zar’ee, Director General of the Royal Camel Corps.
