24 Dec 2022 By

Muscat – Oman Broadband signed four agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) last week with local and international companies, to enhance joint cooperation and boost economic integration in the telecommunications and information technology (ITC) sector.

The first agreement was signed with the OQ Group making its optical fibre infrastructure accessible to Oman Broadband, while considering the operational and commercial aspects of both entities.

Signed by Said Abdullah Mohammed al Mandhari, Chairman of the Oman Broadband’s Board of Directors, and Mansour bin Ali bin Mansour al Abdali, Managing Director at OQ Gas Networks, the agreement promises to help Oman Broadband benefit from the OQ’s fibre optic network across the sultanate, and make the network available in remote areas.

The second agreement was reached with the Oman Airports Management Company (Oman Airports).

As per the agreement, Oman Broadband will install and provide a fibre optic network in all the airports of Oman.

This step aims at ensuring the provision of telecommunication services in accordance with the international standards for licensed telecommunication service providers in Oman, a press release said.

The agreement was signed by Mandhari and Moamen bin Abdullah al Busaidi, Chief Information Officer at Oman Airports.

The third MoU was signed with the Go Lands. Signed by Mandhari and Elias al Harthi, a Go Lands representative, the MoU allows the inclusion of the fibre optic network maps in the Go Land application to make it easier for users to identify the broadband coverage.

The last agreement was signed with the Mohsin Haider Darwish ITICS company, QuadGen Communications Solutions and FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies.

The MoU paves the path for conducting studies related to the development of fibre optic network technologies, in order to ensure that all parties are aligned with future changes in the industry, while providing the best and latest solutions to customers in the sultanate.

The MoU was signed by Mandhari; Jayaprakash Menon, CEO of MHD ITICS; Utyendra Zaalani, General Manager of Sales at Quadgen Communications Solutions; and Bruce Gao, Regional Head of FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies in Oman.
