Firm fined RO1,000 for selling counterfeit goods in Dhahirah

Muscat – An administrative fine of RO1,000 was imposed against a commercial establishment for selling counterfeit goods in Dhahirah Governorate, according to the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA).

A statement issued by CPA said, ‘The Consumer Protection Department in Dhahirah Governorate raided a commercial establishment that sold counterfeit goods, during the periodic inspection visits carried out by the Department in various markets, shops, and commercial centres with the aim of monitoring and regulating them.’

The judicial control officers carry out periodic inspections at the shops and commercial centres to follow up the implementation of the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations and the decisions issued in this regard. It was discovered that a commercial establishment sold and displayed goods that do not contain explanatory data, besides counterfeit and fraudulent goods. As a result, the violating goods were seized and legal measures were taken in this regard.

Accordingly, an administrative fine of RO1,000 was imposed on the violating firm, for violating the Consumer Protection Law and its regulations.
