His Majesty the Sultan’s Accession Day declared a holiday

Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik issued two Royal Decrees on Wednesday, reading as follows:

Royal Decree No 88/2022 fixes official holidays.

• Article 1 states that official holidays for units of the state’s Administrative Apparatus, public legal entities and establishments of the private sector – with regard to Eids and other occasions listed below – will be fixed as follows:
• Hijri New Year Day on Muharram 1
• Prophet’s Birthday on Rabee al Awwal 12
• Al Isra’a Wal Miraj on Rajab 27
• National Day on November 18 and 19
• His Majesty the Sultan’s Accession Day

If any of the days of the weekly off coincide with the abovementioned holidays, it will be compensated by a single day. The dates of the abovementioned holidays may be amended if public interest so dictates.

• Eid al Fitr will from the 29th day of the month of Ramadan and continue till the third day of the month of Shawwal.
• Eid al Adha will start on Dhul-Hijjah 9 and continue till the 12th of the same month.

Friday will be compensated if it coincides with the first day of any of the abovementioned Eids.

• Article 2 cancels Royal Decree No 56/2020 and all that contradicts this decree or contravenes its provisions.
• Article 3 states that this decree will be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from the date of its issue.

Royal Decree No 89/ 2022 ratifies an agreement of cooperation between the government of the Sultanate of Oman and the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of security signed in Manama on October 24, 2022.

• Article 1 ratifies the aforesaid agreement as per the version attached to this decree.
• Article 2 states that this decree will be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue.
