Muscat – Representatives of Fisheries Development Oman (FDO) attended the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) annual conference and exhibition, which is an important event that discusses various blue economy industries.
The conference was organised in Singapore between November 30 and December 2 by Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and attended by delegates from Asian, Pacific, and other countries from all over the world.
The FDO participation aimed to introduce fisheries in the Sultanate of Oman and their competitive advantage in the international markets besides the encouragement of investments in associated industries. Such an exhibition and conference constitutes the appropriate venue for exchanging international experience and experiments and getting updated with the most important scientific developments and latest technologies.
The conference brings together international institutions and organisations specialised in fisheries under one roof to discuss challenges and solutions to international issues of the aquaculture industries.
On the sidelines of the conference, a number of workshops and seminars hosted experts and scientists from all over the world, covering all aquaculture topics, including dryland aquaculture, environment, biodiversity, climate change, as well as aquaculture technology, and discussed aquaculture sustainable development and other issues related to sustainable development and blue economy.
