Muscat – The curtains fell on Amad Duqm 22, which attracted over 23,000 visitors over nine days, on Saturday. The event included various youth activities in the fields of culture, sports, innovation, technology, entertainment and sustainability, held in cooperation between the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
Amad Duqm 22 was held on an area spread over 500,000sqm designed like a village with integrated facilities. The event attracted thousands of visitors, the majority of whom were youth.
Being billed as the city of the future, the event showcased several experimental opportunities and introduced many new business ideas while highlighting Duqm as an ideal place to live, work and for entertainment.
With an eye on the future of the youth, Amad Duqm 22 included brainstorming sessions, meditation sessions, an electric bike circuit, drone racing, remote-control car racing, art laboratories, video games, comedy plays, concerts, and an astronomy camp. Many other activities attracted visitors to enjoy Duqm’s picturesque nature.
Amad Duqm 22 marked an experimental laboratory to fulfil the aspirations of Omani youth for the future of Oman and the world. The design and implementation operations were assigned to a selected group of creative Omani youth to initiate a vision that combines science, technology, art and entertainment in a modern form, which highlights challenges and opportunities alike in creating a better world.
The Sculptors Forum held in the Nufoon of Duqm was one of the largest events accompanying Amad Duqm 22, in which a group of international sculptors from Spain, Germany, Bulgaria, Romania and Tunisia took part. In addition, three Omani sculptors participated who created masterpieces to complement the geology and natural terrain of Duqm.
Sporting events such as sailing and windsurfing attracted a large number of visitors, offering them a new experience combining adventure, fun and challenge. Amad Duqm 22 also provided diving enthusiasts an opportunity to experience the sport and explore marine life and sea secrets with professional trainers.
Amad Duqm 22 also offered facilities for paragliding, included training sessions and aerial tours for visitors.
