Muscat – The Consumer Protection Department in Khasab in Musandam seized a commercial establishment that displayed and sold expired goods, as part of its efforts to curb abuses committed by unscrupulous suppliers.
The Consumer Protection Authority’s inspection drives aim to combat the spread of unauthorised traded goods, and hold violators accountable in accordance with the Consumer Protection Law, its executive regulations, its amendments, and the decisions issued by Authority.
The personnel in Khasab confiscated the expired goods and preparations are being made for their destruction in coordination with the authorities concerned in the governorate.
‘Legal measures were also taken against the facility with an administrative fine imposed on it,’ CPA stated.
The authority affirms that it will spare no effort in following up and monitoring the markets and controlling everything that may harm the health and safety of consumers or detract from their rights, and take legal measures against violators.
It also appealed to consumers to report any abuses they may notice in the markets, through the authority’s various communication channels.
