Muscat Municipality launches anti-mosquito campaign in capital

Muscat –To reduce the spread of mosquitoes in the capital, Muscat Municipality has launched a vector control campaign on Monday.

The campaign aims to combat mosquitoes, creating a healthier environment for citizens and residents in several parts of Muscat.

A statement issued by the municipality on Monday said, ‘Our Pest Control Team in Grand Muttrah commenced a campaign to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito by sending six task forces spread over Muttrah and Muscat.

‘We continue our mosquito control campaigns targeting breeding sites and call on members of the community to adopt hygienic practices to eliminate the breeding environments.

Muscat Municipality has urged people to take steps to eliminate mosquito-breeding sites, which include cleaning of water tanks, disposal of water collected from air conditioners, changing water used for fountains, swimming pools, and agricultural purposes every five days. It has also called for changing water kept in containers for animals and birds every five days.

All water tanks should be properly covered, stated the civic body.
