Muscat – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) inaugurated the 25th Literary and Artistic Forum under the patronage of Ahmed bin Mohammed al Yahmadi, chairman of Muscat Municipality, on Monday.
The four-day forum, with participation of more than 55 young men and women, aims to promote Oman’s culture and discover young talents in the literary and artistic fields. It also works to support and provide them with new skills.
The forum will include three competitions in poetry, short stories and songs, in addition to theatrical workshops.
The ministry stated that it has worked on developing the current version of the forum by adding the artistic side, with an aim to attract young singers, poets, and writers, including folk poetry and eloquent poetry.
Ahmed bin Abdullah al Busaidi, director general of Arts, MCSY, said, “Creativity and cultural development are among the objectives of the cultural strategy that the ministry is working on, and it will be achieved by targeting talented and creative people in the field.”
