Muscat –The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) raided a number of shops in Dhofar Governorate for violating the Consumer Protection Law.

In a statement, CPA said that the Department of Consumer Protection in Al Mazyona, in cooperation with Al Mazyona Municipality, carried out inspection campaigns in the markets of the wilayat to ensure that shops comply with the consumer protection regulations.

‘Inspectors seized expired goods as well as those which violate public morals, and recorded violations against a number of shops,’ it stated.

The violations include not setting prices, setting unfair conditions, difference in the price labelled and actual price, commercial fraud, and non-conformity of some goods to approved specifications and standards.

CPA called upon consumers to report any such suspected practice and also urged tsuppliers to comply with consumer protection laws and regulations.
