Omani startup develops education kit to instill engineering mindset in students

Muscat – To create a generation of students capable of keeping pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies and Oman Vision 2040, BRQ Advanced Technology, in cooperation with the Directorate General of Education in South Sharqiyah governorate, has successfully developed a curriculum in 100 schools through its Easy Stem Learning Kits.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, BRQ Advanced Technology CEO Saud al Mukhaini said, “We started the project in April and succeeded in developing 100 educational kits targeting 100 schools in the wilayats of South Sharqiyah. The project is the first of its kind in Oman.”

The project, funded by Daleel Petroleum, aims to integrate concepts of electronic engineering into educational curricula and teach young students the techniques of 4IR such as electronic control and remote sensing, developing innovation skills side, and achieving goals of Oman Vision 2040, he explained.

“The project also aims to support the curriculum of science and mathematics through a systematic training programme for students and teachers.”

According to Mukhaini, the kit consists of a computer motherboard which includes, a control panel, 25 sensors, connection cables, and a computer programme.

“A training programme has been prepared for the teachers and students to ensure the readiness of the teaching staff and talented students to achieve the maximum possible benefit from the project.”

BRQ aims to expand in the local market to ensure that every member of the community has access to quality products.

Of future, Mukhaini said, “BRQ is considered the leading Omani brand in manufacturing phone chargers. We are working on plans to raise the culture of using approved products and electrical safety among members of the Omani society.”

“We are also working on a cost control plan in the market to provide the latest technologies and the highest quality at the lowest possible cost.”

Mukhaini urged the Omani youth to rely on their ideas and open their small and medium enterprises, especially in the field of technology, because “it is the future and going to be the basis for economic development in the country”.
